I’ve added the Texas Kickoff Classic, OLEFIN, and PHSAT to this post.
I’m guessing right now that OLEFIN and HSAPQ 22 are each about 2 ppb easier than IS107.
Will DCC appear? Will Hunter stay in first? Will a middle school be ranked? Will I finish this sent

Now these rankings have really got me chuckling – Cistercian has the highest ranking set of two teams? That’s some kind of odd record that I have never seen for us. Hey, that’s OK with me. However, I think my students are actually happier about coming in first and second place in the Texas Kickoff Classic. After surviving the mauling at VCU Mirror at Rice U. in September, this I.S.107 was a joy ( of sorts ).
Thanks for the new stats.
Gives us lots of room to improve.
COMPLAINTS ABOUT VARIOUS RANKINGS
I don’t understand; Ladue has not lost a single game, and we have never failed to power a tossup/30 a bonus in competition all year. Yet, somehow, we keep dropping?
Fred’s Anti-Cistercian bias has become Anti-Ladue bias, clearly.
I for one have certainly entertained no claim of ‘anti-Cistercian’ bias in these rankings. I merely made the observation that I found the doublet of Cistercian’s teams being here as amusing.
Fred has been kind enough to explain his methodology on many occasions. While I don’t agree with it, I certainly am not criticizing it here. After all, if one doesn’t like it, then do it better.
Especially in light of last season’s rankings, I find these to be quite reasonable and acceptable, given the methodology that was employed.
‘Anti-Cistercian bias’? Not in the least.
You didn’t claim an anti-Cistercain bias, but rather an anti-Catholic one.
You’re actually pretty damn hilarious
Compare RM stats to St Joe’s at OLEFIN. No wonder it always goes down to the last tossup with these two teams. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
What’s pikeville doing on this list? We’re one of those teams that thinks nine powers in one game is really good. That’s not to say we can’t improve a lot, as we have no seniors and our core this year a sophomore and two freshmen.
I’m really happy to see Kealing in the mix at #44. I think that’s a pretty good spot for them. Also, much as I love having these rankings around, LASA A doesn’t belong anywhere near the top 10. Not this year, anyway. I think HFT will clarify some things near the top…
LASA will still be very good this year, even if they’re rebuilding a bit.
All jokes aside, Cistercian looked pretty incredible at the Texas kickoff from what the stats seem to say, and that’s with Vimal playing for their B team. I think they have a nice chance of being the best team in Texas at the end of the year if they keep doing what they’re doing.
Does anyone know if Kealing is attending any more high school tournaments this year? Cause that’s pretty awesome that they’re getting ranked already.
They’ve been banned from attending any middle school tournaments (effectively; I think there are complicated rules that amount to the same thing), so yes.
Allan is mistaken. Kealing Middle School has not been banned from our Middle School program. In fact, a Kealing team won the Texas Quiz Bowl Middle School Kickoff event on October 1st. Our policies regarding student and team eligibility are available on our website.
