2016-17 HSQBRank All-World Team Player of the Year

I’ve decided to go ahead and announce the winner of Player of the Year (who is also a member of the first team) while I work on writing up the nine other first team selections.

Your 2016-17 All World Team Player of the Year and
Jakob Myers, senior
Naperville North High School, Naperville, Illinois

Jakob Myers led Naperville North to an 8th place ranking in the HSQBRank Pre-Nationals standings. Jakob is one of the most dominant players in the country, winning the titles of highest individual scorer for at least eight different tournaments over the 2016-17 season. His excellent play was a huge part of Naperville North winning local tournaments like the David Riley Memorial Tournament at Homewood-Flossmoor, ATROPHY at Northern Illinois University, the Harvard Fall Tournament mirror at Rockford Auburn, and the New Trier Varsity. Naperville North also finished third at their NAQT state championship. He also won the varsity National History Bee and the varsity International Geography Bee.

Jakob joins previous Player of the Year winners Eric Xu (2014-15, Western Albemarle High School, Crozet, Virginia) and Corin Wagen (2015-16, Liberal Arts and Science Academy, Austin, Texas). Jakob won Honorable Mention recognition on the 2015-16 HSQBRank All-World Team.
