This is the third year of the HSQBRank All-World Teams. Honorable mention recognition is announced today; first- and second-teams, as well as the Player of the Year award, will be announced over the next few days.

TOP TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY Quiz Bowl Teams – 2017 Pre-Nationals
Here are the final rankings for the 2016-17 quiz bowl season. 30 states, as well as Canada and Singapore, are represented, with Oklahoma and China narrowly missing out on having competitors in the top 250.
On paper, DCC A would appear to be the clear favorite this year, but it of course comes down to the actual performances at the national championships to determine who will win those. And there’s a very deep bench of teams able to take them on – any of the top 10 winning a national wouldn’t surprise me, and anyone in the top 30 pulling off key victories could turn HSNCT or NSC’s results on their ear.
Congratulations to everyone on all of their successes this year, and best of luck to teams competing at the NSC, HSNCT, and NASAT.

Note that “Very Small School” eligible teams are denoted with a “VSS” after their city and state. I think this will be a very interesting tournament with the eventual champion very hard to predict. Best of luck to all teams.

Sorry for the delay in putting these out; it’s been a busy few months.
We have a new number one. We’ve expanded to 200 ranked teams. I’ve tried to denote teams that are making their all time debut in the rankings. I hope I didn’t leave anyone out. Please note that stats from February are not incorporated.
Hopefully a new set of rankings will be put out in a few weeks with stats from February and March.
